Arid Painting

My arts practice began in Perth West Australia at the completion of my Diploma in Art and Design TAFE in 1991, with a double major in painting. I won an Innovation in Design Award in 1995 and a scholarship award in my second year of TAFE. In 2002 I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Western Australia for painting. I have conducted an artist residency in China and fifteen artist residencies here in Australia. I have held over ten solo shows, with a solo show of new works end ofJuly 2012. I have two prominent works that were commissioned and of a large scale in foyers of large buildings in Perth. They are located; Alluvion; Mounts Bay Road Perth and the Commonwealth Bank Building 150 St.George's Terrace Perth, where I was also commissioned to create a sculpture for the Japanese restaurant area. I am held in collections throughout Australia; AGWA, Lawrence Wilson Art Collection, Ballidu Contemporary Art Society and numerous private collections here in Australia and abroad. I have conducted painting workshops with children and adults. I have been selected and participated in 13 group shows, which included twice selected to participate in the Joohdalup Art Award Exhibitions, selected to exhibit in Minnawarra Art Awards three times, the South West Times Survey and four Bunbury Biennales. In 2004 I created several digital movies and these shorts were exhibited in Melbourne as part of the Tronicphosis experimental visual and sound event in 2004. With three of my contemporaries I represented TAFE in the National Graduate Show in Perth, for its inaugural debut in 1992.
