About The Artwork
The painting incorporates aspects of Antigone's life derived from the the Theban Trilogy by Sophocles. It forms a part of my PhD project exploring the forces of chaos and order or in Ancient Greece, chaos and cosmos. I utilised the Attic black-figure pottery style to draw reference from and to, Antigone's time and place.
