I used the following mediums in this mixed media word art piece: spray paint, acrylic, and oil. Some of the paint dried over the acrylic paint and ripped itself off over the lettering, creating a distressed effect that you see in the pictures.

The troll was the start of it all. I wrote the saying and the sign didn’t seem positive enough...a troll makes everything positive, don’t you agree? And that was it. I hope viewers see the humor in this painting with the mixture of hot pink paint, trolls, pop culture, and art, all in one painting.

I build art. I use conventional and unconventional raw materials to add texture, depth, smoothness and detailing to cover a blank canvas. From there, I grab a random color of paint and start applying it to the canvas. Taking a step back, I'll look at the canvas and examine what's taking form. Based on what I see forming, I then develop that image until the character or object emerges, and then continue to make edits until I feel it's complete. Nothing is off limits during the development process. Sometime I add resin and spray paint. Sometimes I apply modeling paste with brushes or palette knives or fingers. These paintings have a life of their own. Because no rules are set, the painting evolves with age due to the technique and materials used. And no painting is complete either, until sold. I constantly act on impulsive ideas in the spur of the moment and will change a painting entirely or only slightly, depending on the idea. Some I never touch a second time.
