Bamboo shoots bending under strong winds. Ink on rice paper. Ink has a cool greyish-bluish hue - I used handmade Japanese ink stick. Bamboo shoots bending under strong winds is a highly symbolic image in Asian art. It's a symbol of resilience, strong character, moral integrity. Bending, but not breaking. A person, who withstands hardships. Bamboo has many positive interpretations - good luck, modesty, tenacity. The beauty of bamboo has been admired for centuries in poetry, calligraphy, and art. The painting is signed, sealed with my personal seal, wet-mounted on backing rice paper and ready to be framed or mounted on a silk scroll. Please use acid-free adhesives when framing. The painting is manually cut, please leave a few mm error margin for dimensions. Colours may differ due to differences in devices.

Malta
Canadian artist based in Malta. I studied oil painting in the South Studio Atelier in Malta. The Atelier follows the great traditions of the Florence Academy of Art, so do I. The transience of life pushes me to create, to capture the moments of beauty I see all around. I also studied Asian art, in China, Canada, and in Japan. Fragile rice paper gives a different feeling. It's the best canvas to express the complex simplicity of ink painting. I am using centuries-old Japanese recipe to mount my own artwork.
