My name is pronounced as Slaavitsa Matjashev. I paint primarily in watercolor, and I have done only a few paintings in the oil on canvas technique. Being passionate about painting, I hope to inspire as many people as possible with my love for soft colors and nature, especially art lovers who see beauty the same way as I do and have the same kind of aesthetic as me. I love classic beauty, and consider it a real value, believing that there are still such people (perhaps a little older generation) who have the same attitude. The new age has its trends, but they do not satisfy my soul, deep down. I will continue my need to create watercolors that make my heart sing with joy and that have the same emotional impact on others. I was born, grew up and live in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia, now Serbia, SE Europe (to introduce you to my country, famous Serbs are Nikola Tesla, Novak Djokovic and Nikola Jokic, they have nothing to do with art, but you've probably heard of them 😊). I draw inspiration for painting from nature, from beautiful photographs or paintings by painters I admire. Watercolor, my chosen medium, is a gentle technique, but also demanding, because everything must be planned in advance, both the amount of water on the paper and on the brush, and the arrangement of painting steps from light to dark, and at the very start leaving white (unpainted) paper in places where there should be light, etc. But in the end, which is not the case with most other painting techniques, it gives airiness and transparency and a feeling of lightness. The photo shows me at one of the art exhibitions, where I exhibited my paintings, waiting for the guests to come to the opening.
