ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The piece is inspired by Anni Albers's weaving. I choose limited colors for the warp. My idea is making the weaving as a painting rather than a craft piece. The natural materials are very delicate. However, we don't always think that they are valuable and durable as weaving materials. Therefore, it breaks the idea of weaving is usable and then we can look at it as a painting. The imperfection of the weaving materials and the gap is something that brings a life into this piece.

Jia Zeng (b.1995, Xiamen, China) received a B.F.A in painting in 2018 summer from Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, GA. She has traveled to Hong Kong and France over the last year and exhibited her work in Savannah and the group exhibition in Lacoste. Her paintings often explore emotion by using metaphorical and poetic perception. She combines the fiber elements and the found objects. Zeng will be moving back to her home country in 2018 fall.
