ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I made this painting when I visited Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. I love the beach, and remember all of my childhood memories of playing in the sand. The reflection of the figures in the water reminded me of when I was young and went to the beach with my mom. This is an image of a mother and daughter. I didn't know them, but I was alone on that trip and I missed my mother. One of my favorite painters is Sorolla, a Spanish painter who often painted families at the beach. This painting emulates his color palette and technique. I hope that when viewers see my painting they will also think about their childhood memories of beach vacations with their families.
