People at the beach always interest me, especially when they are doing ordinary things like packing up to go home. This woman looked particularly graceful and alone as she collected her towel to go. This oil is painted on a deep cradle wrapped canvas so it looks good framed or unframed and is ready to hang. Charcoal lines and and textured oils allow me to create thin and thicker layers.

I am a painter and textile artist. Most of the time I am most interested in stripping an ordinary scene into its most fundamental shapes. I also enjoy playing with color and have lived in both gray zones (Seattle) and sun spots (Los Angeles) so my artwork gravitates toward one extreme or the other. I like to build texture, suggest rather than define, and I most enjoy creating an expressionistic piece is more about mood than actual places or things.
