Perfection doesn't exist, or at least, it exists in people's minds but not in reality. Instead, there are different ways of being the same thing, and to me, it's precisely this diversity that we should consider as perfection. In this painting, there's a repetition of the same object, which should be identical in itself, but it isn't because the subject is different. The subject then surpasses the object, destroys its sameness, and transforms it into difference. The perfection tied to the equality that everyone attributes to a prototype becomes perfection in showing the same thing with different faces. As you can see in this painting, no body matches the singular ideal that we all have in our minds, and yet, I see nothing but beauty in this diversity. The subjects are some of the most important women in my life, and the theme stems from a reflection on their self-criticism, which coincides. I was somewhat inspired by Monet's 'Rouen Cathedral', but in this case, instead of reproducing the same subject in different situations, I reproduced the same object in different subjects. I used oil paint because I prefer it for figurative work, and the material I worked on is canvas board.

Hi, my name is Elena Panciera. I was born in a city in the province of Venice, Italy, in 2000. I primarily work with oil, acrylic, and watercolor paints. I studied painting and sculpture at the Liceo Artistico Statale in Venice, where I focused on various techniques including oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and screen printing. Later, I shifted my academic focus to Social Psychology, earning a bachelor's degree in Padua and a master's degree in Milan. This study of the human mind became a turning point for my artistic growth. Always seeking new forms of expression, I began exploring abstract styles - something I had never considered during my formal art education. My work is deeply influenced by the psychological concept of Flow Theory, which describes the state of being fully immersed in an activity. In my case, this flow is the experience I feel while creating. Similar to Action Painting, I am guided by a force beyond my control - a dance with the painting itself. These trance-like moments disconnect me from the process, leading me from a blank canvas to a finished piece. The end comes when I’m awakened by a sense of lightness and freedom.
