Michel is now the only person able to create using the medium of LAP, a material invented in the 1920s by the Speranza and Jean Séailles. The medium - cold crystallization on a stone-like backing - was greatly admired by artists of the time such as Fujita, Dufy and the Martel brothers. It was used for the columns of the iconic La Coupole restaurant in Paris. The columns were restored by the Séailles' son Pierre and Michel when the building was listed.
