Big Snow Painting

My current body of work has come about after the death of my husband. For years we traversed the world by foot, and now i am doing this alone. These works convey a sense of vastness, a looking out into an unknown future. I am not afraid but rather taking time to immerse myself in the beauty of the natural environment in which I live, and finding a stillness and peace. I am working towards a sustainable studio practice. Most of the colours used are from around where i live. There are a couple of synthetics, like the ultramarine and India blue, Blues are very rare especially in England. All my binders are clay, egg tempera and gum arabic, which are traditional materials
