About The Artwork

For me, Nassim Nicholas Taleb is probably one of the most influential thinker-writers of the last years. Although at first, I didn't like his writing style at all, but then I got over myself and stopped paying attention to his horribly clumsy style of writing and saw the extraordinary human depth and real knowledge lived and thought through the author's personal experience. Many things have formed in my head thanks to his texts. In this way, life experiences and inner feelings are validated in the thoughts of another person and become not just your subjective world, but something more universal. They become Knowledge. From the moment I finished reading his first book “The Black Swan”, that image never left me. I thought about my "black swans"; about friends with whom events close to mini-catastrophes occurred; and about larger events affecting the fates of many people, which are almost impossible to foresee until they manifest themselves. Thus, a black, beautiful, proud bird has also become for me a symbol of extremely rare, dangerous and in its uniqueness beautiful events. This is my first attempt at depicting a black swan. My painting shows a corner of a garden at night with a blooming rosebush, out of the darkness of which a black swan appears, or maybe disappears. Please admit that there is something magical about summer nights: standing in the middle of a garden, inhaling the sweet scent of roses already blooming, shuddering at the occasional rustle of leaves and trying to see what the darkness hides. Personally, I prefer to send oil paintings stretched on a frame, but over a long distance this can significantly increase the cost of shipping. Therefore, I suggest, at the request of the client, if the work allows (not all works can be removed from the stretcher and twisted), remove the canvas from the stretcher and send it rolled in a tube. This will save you a considerable amount of money. Please let me know if you are satisfied with my offer.

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999. Bachelor's degree in Costume Design; 1990-1995 studies at the Abramtsevo College of Applied Arts and in 1995 obtained a bachelor's degree in stone, bone and wood processing from an artist-master.
