About The Artwork
Blue Hawk is a small gestural semi-abstract painting. It is bright and breezy, and was inspired by a local landmark known as the Hawk's Rock. This is a granite escarpment jutting out of the landscape, with a very distinctive shape. It is steeped in legend and folklore, and is also known in gaelic as, "carrick na sidhe og", or rock of the young fairy. Yeats's play, 'At the Hawk's Well'.,is based on the legend.
