About The Artwork

Conceptually I was inspired by Marcel Duchamp's "Boîte-en-valise", a portable suitcase containing miniature reproductions of his artworks, serving as a condensed mini-museum of his creative output. Formally I was inspired by the Mariano Fortuny's paintings exceptional technical skill and a keen eye for capturing light and texture. I hope that viewers understand that there is a narrative within the History of Art that deals with artists who have created their own museums, such as Marcel Duchamp's Boîte-en-valise, Robert Filliou's Galerie Légitime, and Marcel Broodthaers' Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles. To continue this narrative, I have founded the Davis Museum, a cultural entity recognized by the Generalitat of Catalonia. The Paintings Section From Davis Museum is the only section where the works are for sale and its paintings are grouped into portraits, still lifes, interiors, exteriors, and classical mythology. I chose oil on canvas as my medium because I am interested in this technique, not only for its versatility as a medium, but also for its historical deposit of images and ideas.
