ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I've been investigating the legacy of my own disability & how I was impacted as a kid by repeated traumatic hospital visits. I hope these thinly painted images evoke my miserable childhood filled with pain & tears which was hidden behind the obligatory smiles produced for the snaps which fill our family album. White canvas is left to add to the sense of isolation. The canvas is on a readymade stretcher & does not include any means of hanging. The canvas has been primed with several layers of primer & structura, lightly sanded. The canvas has been sealed.
