While exploring the countryside of lower Romagna in search of inspiration, the maestro Giovanni Battista Marcucci encountered a stray Bracco dog, which became the subject of this oil on canvas painting. The work showcases Marcucci’s exceptional talent, blending traditional oil techniques with the innovative use of materials like silk and tapestry to bring depth and texture to the landscape behind the dog’s portrait. The juxtaposition of these elements not only highlights the painter’s mastery but also captures the serenity and beauty of the natural world, creating a truly unique and evocative composition.

Born and raised in Italy, Giovanni Battista was immersed in an artistic environment from a young age, strongly influenced by his mother's dedication to painting. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, where he studied with the well-known graphic designer Albe Steiner, a leading figure in Italian advertising graphics of the 1950s and 1960s. Steiner not only inspired him, but also provided crucial support to his artistic endeavors. At the beginning of the 1970s Giovanni Battista took part in a prestigious advertising graphics competition organized in Milan by the well-known Gillette brand. Although he won the competition, he made the unconventional decision to decline the offered position as a graphic designer. He considers himself among the few painters remaining in the Italian artistic panorama of modern impressionism, maintaining a unique legacy in the field of visual arts. At the end of 2023, at the age of 80, the master made an important decision, to share his works with the public.
