Art meets Science Brain waves were first discovered using electroencephalogram techniques, which involve placing electrodes on the scalp. Researchers have noted activity over a range of different frequencies, from delta (0.5 to 4 hertz) through to gamma (25 to 140 Hz) waves. The slowest occur during deep sleep, with increasing frequency associated with increasing levels of consciousness and concentration. ℹ️ Scientists have taken a step forward in their ability to decode what a person is saying just by looking at their brainwaves when they speak. They trained algorithms to transfer the brain patterns into sentences in real-time and with word error rates as low as 3%. Very soon a device that allows direct communication between the brain and a machine will be developed!

As a member of International Encaustic Society (IEA), Ulyana applies molten beeswax in contemporary new ways mixing encaustic with oil and pastels and developing 3D-texture using fabric and absorbing paper.
