Sooreeadeo Ballgobind was born 1949 in Mauritius. After finishing school he joined the Merchant Navy as an ordinary seaman. After many years at sea he went to the nautical College in Leer, Germany where he qualified as a Deep Sea Master. After his Qualification he served in the Merchant Navy in different ranks, finally as Bridge Master and so his dream became true. He is a married father of two children. At present he lives in Germany. Wherever he laid his hat, he felt at home. Art. What is art? According to his personal point of view everybody is born as an artist. It depends on how to practice this in the daily life. In his childhood he started to experiment with colour and natural material e.g. charcoal, different earth colour etc. which was available in his surrounding and even until today he keeps on practicing this, but also uses industrial made paints. Inspiration consists of the observation of his own environment. This could be the people he works with, people he met during travelling or the observation of nature and buildings. Sometimes his memory focuses back to the past. In his paintings he expresses what he observed for a few moments for others. In this way his observations remain as a remembrance for the next coming generations. Many of his paintings were drawn at high sea .
