Jenny Pymont BA (Hons) SWAc Fine Art Academician with the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. United Kingdom Biography Jenny Pymont SWAc was born in Paignton, Devon. Jenny achieved a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 1996, at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Since then she has been a practicing artist specialising in Animal Portraiture and Still Life. Jenny is an elected Academician and has served for many years on the Board of Directors for the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. Jenny has had many exhibitions throughout her career and has had work in The Hans Price Gallery, The Lantic Gallery, The Richmond Hill Gallery and The Duchy Square Gallery for Creativity. Recent exhibitions include Kennaway House, Exeter Castle, Delamore Park Gallery, Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Sherborne Abbey, The Brownston Gallery, Penwith Gallery, St Ives and The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery. “My work is inspired by my immediate surroundings. I like using unconventional discrepancies of scale within a Still Life context. I enjoy symbolically conveying the many varied complexities of human relationships, hoping that the feel and atmosphere of the paintings provoke a sense of timelessness and peculiarity.” Jenny’s preferred medium is Oil Paint. Sometimes her paintings take months to create, choosing to work on several pieces at the same time. Many familiar motifs are used in Jenny’s paintings such as peeling wallpaper, patterns, flowers, butterflies, birds, crystal balls, marbles, driftwood and shells. Jenny’s work has been placed in the surreal Still Life tradition. Inspired at an early age by the work of Salvador Dali (1904-1989) and Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978) She is also interested in the paintings of Spanish artist Juan Sanchez Cotan (1560-1627). “My personal work lies in a fondness for quirky still life. I like to be in control of the miniature worlds I have created, much like setting the stage for Theatre. I am deeply influenced by the symbolic vanitas paintings of the 16th and 17th century Dutch Masters and the way that they use light and symbolism to create drama, atmosphere and narrative.” Jenny Pymont SWAc www.jennypymont.com www.facebook.com/Artist.JennyPymont www.portraitpainterlady.co.uk
