“Call of Shitalaksma – 1” captures the quiet poetry of river life on a misty morning along the Shitalaksma River in Bangladesh. Through restrained tones and transparent watercolor washes, I seek to express the stillness between light and water — where form softens into atmosphere. The anchored boats...

I am Md. Mahmudul Hasan, a watercolor and acrylic artist from Bangladesh — a land of rivers, light, and endless horizons. My art grows from quiet reflections on nature’s moods: the whisper of water, the rhythm of clouds, and the fragile poetry of shadows. Though I live a busy corporate life as an Investment Manager, painting remains my sanctuary — a space where silence becomes color and emotion flows freely. During the stillness of the pandemic, I returned to my brushes and rediscovered the artist I had once set aside. Since then, painting has become my meditation, my dialogue with beauty and impermanence. Watercolor, with its fluid grace and unpredictable transparency, mirrors life itself — delicate yet powerful, spontaneous yet thoughtful. I explore both representational and abstract expressions, guided by harmony, rhythm, and the mystery of light. My works often portray the serene landscapes and waterbodies of Bangladesh, where reflections blur into memories. I am an Associate Member of the American Watercolor Society and have participated in numerous international exhibitions. Each painting I create is a quiet attempt to capture a moment of balance — where light breathes, color sings, and the soul finds peace.
