ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is largely inspired by the ancient cave paintings; depicting animals leaping and running together. I used inks in ochres, burnt sienna and blacks to reference these primitive artworks and loved the feeling of painting bounding deer in all of their free beauty. Painted using brush and ink on handmade cotton Khadi paper, a strong and natural support for this subject matter.

I am an artist based in Gloucestershire, UK but originally from Perthshire, Scotland. I have been fortunate to exhibit in some prestigious institutions including Royal Academy, London, RWA, Bristol and RSA, Edinburgh. I trained in Fine Art Drawing and MFA Painting and have literally been drawing my whole life. My proudest achievement is having my ink drawing 'Ghoul School' in the permanent collection of Prints and Drawings at The British Museum. I was also delighted to receive 'Finest Drawing' award at the National Open Art Competition in 2013.
