I started painting this picture back in 2021. Like most of my complex paintings, I take several years to complete. I look for a condition and get to work. In 2022, when the war began in Ukraine, I managed to bring the canvas with the started painting to Italy, and only in February 2024 I was able to finish it. This picture is about two human things - fear and freedom. Thinking helpfully provides us with any argument, so long as we don’t risk changing anything in our lives. Like a chameleon, it adapts to the environment, news, and inconveniences, turning an anomaly into the norm. But the heart doesn’t know how to do that, it feels what it feels and doesn’t know how to adapt. What to do? How to reconcile the heart and mind?I found a way out through questions to myself - is my Soul alive now? What happens to her when I compromise with the world and don’t want to see something? Protea is precisely the symbol of the Soul. This painting will need a frame, if necessary, I will help you choose it.

Larycheva Iryna (Budarina) is a Ukrainian visual artist whose practice is largely based on a combination of the history of anatomical art and morphology. Her work draws from many different influences: psychology, criminology, forensic science, history, anatomy and biology. Iryna’s idea is to mix two worlds - one visible, the other invisible, ontics and ontology, and to make this connection visible in a concrete form. The main idea of creativity is man as a form of life, and the human body as a mystery, as a border between worlds and as a horizon that can only be felt. Now Iryna Larycheva carries out her artistic activities in the city of Viterbo, Italy, where she was forced to move in March 2022 after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
