Original painting of cherry blossoms, made with Japanese ink and watercolours on rice paper. This painting is part of a sakura series based on sketches I did on the streets of Kyoto, when cherry trees were in bloom. Sakura or cherry blossoms are a symbol of spring and fleeting beauty. Originally from Japan, the cherry blossom viewing has become a popular custom in many countries. It's very romantic. This painting is my tribute to the beauty of spring and lovely cherry blossoms. The painting is signed, sealed, wet-mounted on backing rice paper and ready to be framed or mounted on a silk scroll. Please use acid-free adhesives when framing. The painting is manually cut, please leave a few mm error margin for dimensions. Please note that small creases may form due to the nature of the paper. Colours may differ due to difference in devices.

Malta
Canadian artist based in Malta. I studied oil painting in the South Studio Atelier in Malta. The Atelier follows the great traditions of the Florence Academy of Art, so do I. The transience of life pushes me to create, to capture the moments of beauty I see all around. I also studied Asian art, in China, Canada, and in Japan. Fragile rice paper gives a different feeling. It's the best canvas to express the complex simplicity of ink painting. I am using centuries-old Japanese recipe to mount my own artwork.
