ABOUT THE ARTWORK
24 x 24 in oil painting on wood panel. I personally like the warmth of the colors from the setting sun in this image of Chinatown, NYC. I also really enjoy doing cityscapes for a number of reasons. So much is there to help balance a painting. Seems that every city image is full of reflections, bright lights and deep contrasting shadows, and I really enjoy the depth of the street views, which create great angles and lines. I don't focus on representing the image perfectly, and in fact, this entire Chinatown painting was completed with zero paint brushes. I just used one or two palette knives and a variety of techniques. This is why you’ll see imperfections in letters, glass, spacing, and more. I like dark, gritty, moody, and mysterious results in paintings.
