Painting of an orange pumpkin.

Painted on canvas linen and mounted on 2 cm thick wooden chassis.

Oil painting is a very noble medium that gives me lots of freedom to play with layers of colors and textures.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it.

We live a moment full of visual stimuli that calls for constant rethinking of the artist's intention. Increasingly a response is needed that should not only be original and well-resolved but above all sincere. Hélène Gélinas's paintings reveal a concern for this intimate, transparent world, beyond the technical domain and current artistic trends. Born in Shawinigan (Québec, Canada), Hélène Gélinas studied graphic design in California and Australia, painting in Seville with Jesús Alcántara, and pictorial restoration in Barcelona. This set of different disciplines and geographical locations is reflected in her work. With a clearly realistic style, her paintings show special attention in the construction of the image. The process starts with a quick pencil sketch and continues with a work of layers where often the backgrounds acquire a primary role in the final result. She creates atmospheres and feelings with the intention, not only to represent more or less faithfully the subject, but to get its essence, whether animals, still lifes or people. It's in the composition, the balance, shapes and colors, in the use of materials that we discover the graphic designer, the pictorial restorer and the artist who insists on transmitting emotions, beauty, and brings us a new stimulus, different and sincere.
