City Skies London - Mustard Painting

Sarah Kudirka (nee Davenport) is an award-winning contemporary British artist who makes art about the shapes and edges of things: buildings, cities, objects and words. An artist producing striking and mature work, she brings both passion and playfulness to her work. Sarah's paintings are made by using oil paint and pencil applied directly over Polaroid shots that she has taken while walking through cities. The idea is simple: walk and look up at the sky in between the buildings. The resulting art is compelling. She reimagines the city streets and skyline in paint and pencil on Polaroid scale, never copying the photo obliterated beneath. Her series 'City Skies London' now numbers over 400 images and they are available both unframed and in exquisitely framed grids. Just a couple have been enlarged and are offered as limited edition prints. Sarah is now also working on series about Berlin, Glasgow, Hong Kong and Sydney. The artist is inspired by all sorts of stuff to do with material culture; street furniture; the built environment; urban landscape; design; language and architecture.
