Civilitas Painting

I studied Visual Arts at the University of Chile between 1983 / 87 and design in 2010/12. Student with the masters Gonzalo Diaz and Adolfo Couve . Since 1989 I dedicated myself to work in advertising as an artistic creative director. I have been teaching design and audiovisual communication at numerous universities and have exercised my job as creative director and strategic communicator until today. I painted without great pretensions and intermittently since I left the School of Arts and I have exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Chile . Since 2014 I dedicate myself to paint professionally and permanently. STATEMENT My work is always based on a cinematographic narrative, an script that gives a pattern to a story. The intention is always to tell a story in a space where live small cuotes of humor, eroticism, visual games of figure and ground, parallel dimensions and impossible always within a framework of traditional support exercise situations. Objects, human figure and landscape are intertwined in a seemingly surreal atmosphere but always looking for a verisimilitude to nature so that surrealism could be "apparent" and relative within a naturalistic and figurative context. The influence and experience acquired in my years of advertising art director and graphic design make it inevitable appointment elements of pop art, the media saturation and its effects on the lives of the characters that inhabit my stories. Manufacturing is heavily influenced by German expressionist masters but also recognize a natural tendency to look the figure without disfiguring not complicate the story. Finally what I want is that the work is apparently very intellectual in origin but very simple in its presentation.
