About The Artwork
Most people look but they do not see. I chose the style of this work to enable detail, particularly in the feathers. The Scarlet Macaw Parrot is a beautiful tropical bird which we see on the coastline and in the forest of our country. With this work I wanted to get a close up view of the face of the bird.

Costa Rica
I was born in Devonport, New Zealand and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. Now we live in Santa Ana, Costa Rica with my wife, Artist Natalia Wallwork. My influences are from Ancient and Tribal Art, particularly Mayan Art but I'm also influenced by the great Surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. The underlying concept of my art though is the importance of our connection with the natural world, therefore a lot of my subject matter are the Birds, Animals and Fish of our planet. I sign my artworks 'Hilton', my middle name after my great grandmother, Hanna Hilton.
