Clouds Over Sioux Valley Painting

This large oil on canvas work is inspired by the huge clouds that roll over the Dakotas and dominate in the landscape like massive sculpture. In this painting I intend the viewer to feel it the scale of the clouds as the dominate the horizon a mass rather than wispy remnants. In am influenced by the works of Philip Guston, Marsden Hartley and Milton Avery. The use of simplified shape, dominate subject and reduced form are evident in this work. This large work is sold unframed and any be stretched and framed. When framing the work is intended float inside the frame. Personally, I prefer to hang these works without the aid of frame. A few small pins across the top are enough to secure to work to the wall. In this manner the work remains free as landscape and clouds which can never be framed.
