About The Artwork

Encaustic painting, many layers of pure pigments suspended in translucent pure beeswax on primed canvas board. Pressed and dried Columbine flowers. Collected in Sweden on June 21st, Midsommar day. Inspired by the simple act of observing time, the angle of the sun and nature from ones particular position on the planet. The surface is smooth but undulating so is more an object/sculpture than a flat painting. The combination of opaque and translucent beeswax gives a depth and 3D quali ty to the painting. Wooden cradle frame on rear, wired and ready to hang. Some of the oldest paintings, from Egypt and Greece are encaustic. Made from wax and pigments on wood they are particularly good at surviving the elements, especially water. However beeswax will begin to soften at 64f/110c degrees. In a regular home environment this is not an issue but it is something to be aware of. They can be cleaned with a dust free dry cloth which will improve there luster and luminous.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

The patterns and rhythms of time. Its cyclical repetitions are observed from ones particular position on the planet. Wherever or whoever you are, you are the pivot of that motion. Using the suns passage through the extreme shifts of the year, the actual heat of the sun or the visual translation of scientific experiments and observations that prove the Earth’s rotation. I construct my encaustic paintings by collecting pure beeswax, some natural pigments and wood ash from the Swedish forest to give a deep connection to the place and time I am lucky enough to call safe and home.
