I paint about mental health, I am inspired by colors from my trips to the DR every year. I work with different oil paint sticks, oil pastels, felt, wool fiber, linen, and other textiles. The abstraction conveys emotions through the use of colors and visual textures. My work is a spiritual practice, one that grounds me in this world and challenges me to be a better human and a better artist every day. The work is a reflection of the struggles that we go through, such as mental health struggles, but also the beauty of traveling and opening up your mind to different cultures and seeing things from a new perspective. As an art educator, my teaching career influences my work and vice versa.
