The driving force behind my artwork is the desire to explore atmospheric worlds that have a sense of familiarity but give the viewer a feeling of uncanniness. The figures who live in the world of the painting—those are the faces I want to capture. Through oil painting, oil pastels, acrylics, and spray paint, I seek to challenge imperfections and beauty standards. I embrace exaggerated hues but still continue with the theme of distorted forms. I want my audience to understand the normalization of disfigurements—the alternate realities where these imperfections are the norm and the standards of beauty. In the end, the portraits I create are not simply portraits. They are doors to other realities, relics that belong to liminal spaces of our subconscious. My job is to find the art of the multiverse and present it in our small corner of the galaxy. In between the dark matter, there is art.
