Carlos Cromeyer was born in El Salvador and spent his formative years living and studying in Oklahoma. During his youth, he also spent summers in various countries across Central America, staying with family. These contrasting cultural and physical landscapes deeply shaped his artistic sensibility and perspective. He moved to Spain to pursue formal studies in fine arts, specializing in sculpture at the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Istituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona. Over the next 15 years, he worked professionally as a car designer in Spain, Taiwan, and Germany, a career that honed his understanding of form, structure, and precision. Throughout this time, painting remained a constant in his life, a personal practice he continued to explore and evolve independently. Carlos' artwork has been exhibited in group shows in Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany. He has been based in New Jersey for the past four years, where he continues to deepen and expand his artistic practice. His paintings represent a visual language developed to convey emotion and atmosphere beyond the limitations of the flat surface. Each piece is carefully designed and constructed to be experienced on two levels. From a distance, the panels form cohesive images that carry emotional resonance, establish atmosphere, and shape the mood of a space. Up close, the viewer is invited into a more analytical experience, observing the interplay of light and shadow, the spatial composition, and the abstract forms within each structure. This dual experience encourages a shift between emotional immediacy and thoughtful reflection, mirroring Carlos' own creative process, which moves fluidly between intuition and precision.
