Three pieces focusing on society's cycle of spending money, receiving bills, and working to make money for those habits. The consumer cycle. For these pieces I saved and collected paper from my life. My old tip envelopes, tags from past purchases, and envelopes from bills. I am so connected to because of that. These pieces have wonder texture and finishes to them to give them real depth. Each canvas is 16"x20." Framed in found wood with raw edges. Hang wires on back.

Dyanna Dimick explores the human relationship with the natural world. Dyanna perpetually collects materials for tools and inspiration. She selects pieces that catch her eye, choosing them for their initial color, texture or shape. The act of collecting keeps her attuned to her direct environment. By repurposing items and by being resourceful with her materials, Dyanna challenges her own consumption habits and promotes an ecological consciousness. Her artwork features a balance of natural visual elements and man-made materials, with items like sun-bleached plastic and vintage paper serving as the foundation for many of her pieces. These materials act as visual inspiration whether they make it into the finished piece or not. Dyanna captures a snapshot of her environment through her these carefully selected materials. She keeps a balance between a pleasant abstract aesthetic with muted natural colors and less refined materials. Dyanna's use of these materials reflects the intrusion of man-made objects into our natural environment and the complex relationship between humanity and the natural world. Dyanna’s signature lexicon of saw blade waves represent the interplay between the harshness of the industrial and organic softness of the natural world. Water symbolizes hope in a land of drought and fire, while playful colors and shapes make difficult issues like the climate crisis, vanity, race, and societal norms more digestible. The unnatural materials and colors represent the complexity and long lasting impact of humanity on our environment. Dyanna's newest body of work builds upon her exploration of the natural world, focusing specifically on the sea. Drawing inspiration from her direct observations, she depicts the ebb and flow of currents, reflecting the inherent fluidity and movement of water. Dyanna captures the moods of the sea by using color variation, texture, layers and repetitive marks to guide the viewers eyes. Through her evocative portrayal of water, she invites the viewer to contemplate the beauty and fragility of our natural surroundings and the impact we have on it. Her paintings serve as a reminder of the interconnection of all life and the profound impact that water has on our planet and ourselves. Dyanna aims to connect us to our environment and encourage us to see beauty in unexpected places. Her work is a reflection of her deep respect for the natural world and her commitment to reducing her own environmental footprint.
