ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work is inspired by Paolo Buttini, a visionary artist who died many years ago, who had imagined a sort of universal brotherhood in which human beings would be at peace and in harmony with nature. What I wanted to represent with my painting is a dystopian view of the world that is full of contradictions and injustices. There are many references to traditional painting, by means of citations of works of art. The work was made with a mixed technique: watercolor, tempera, pen and India ink, color pastels on paper.

The works presented in this webpage are painted from life; they are based on real subjects which are, for me, a necessary starting point in order to study the shape, the light, and the mysterious relationships which seem to exist between different objects when they are put together. In my work I always tend to reduce and simplify the visible shapes of things and to free them, as much as possible, from the exterior ornaments which prevent a clear perception of the essential features.
