About The Artwork

Limited Edition Giclee paper print. Dimensions shown are image size, not inclusive of 2.5 inch white border. Proofed, signed and numbered by the artist, with certificate of authenticity. Canvas also available through artist. The first in “The Hero’s Journey” series of paintings. Daniel was the son of a fisherman. Taught the language of the sea and the stars by his father, he was growing easily into the traditional life of casting nets and lines for his livelihood. Content to be content. But one day, a family arrived in his village while on travels from their mountain home. With them was their most beautiful eldest daughter, Genevieve. She put the sun to shame with her humble radiance. She was the match that started his flame, and Daniel fell instantly and ferociously in love. When Genevieve returned home, she absentmindedly took his heart with her. And so now, Daniel is destined to wander the hills, caught between two worlds of seemingly conflicting longings. Eternally pulling the boat of tradition while in search of the world where his passion resides.

About the Artist Award-winning oil painter Paul Bond was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California and Costa Rica. Paul Bond's art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, his paintings merge symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements with realistic atmospheres to unveil a world where everything is possible. At times, they simply express a whimsical aspect of life. Yet most works also carry deeper metaphysical and philosophical messages illuminating the world of our dreams and subconscious thoughts, fears and hopes. Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in galleries, museums and cultural centers, including The Gateway Museum and The San Diego Art Institute. His paintings are now in private collections throughout the US, and worldwide. Corporate collections include Fox, Warner Bros and NBC Studios, Royal Caribbean International, Marriott Hotels, Scripps and Stanford Hospitals; and his works are featured in numerous contemporary art publications.
