My work rather stands on its own. I also work as a curator and get to see quite a
lot of work, mostly representational painting. It is difficult to slot my
work into any current movement or school and it is easy to recognize my
specific style.

I definitely do not aim to communicate any obvious messages.
I am interested in the viewers emotional response. It is interesting that
my work tends to polarize many viewers - they either wholeheartedly reject
it or they love with enthusiasm. Could an artist wish for more?

I think it is the particular synthesis of depiction, technique, composition
and the unconventional subject matter that makes my work quite unique. The
subjects are everyday objects that I find around me. In contrast to
photorealism, however, I detach them from their surroundings and arrange
them in new contexts.

By continuously reducing them to their essence, the objects in my paintings
develop an intensity and presence that they would never have in reality.
