Dead Sea (Mère Morte) Painting

Dead Sea in French is Mer Morte, which sounds exactly like 'mère morte' - dead mother. That's probably why this particular corner of the world kept popping into my head in the months after my mother passed away. Her love had felt like a generous ocean, enveloping me, carrying me, protecting me, and now the water had receded, leaving a very salty, very still puddle in its place. A concentrate of tears, in an arid land, where only potted plants grew, and where the Wolf was waiting for me. - Painted with handmade watercolors on heavyweight cold pressed Arches paper.
