Deco Wave Painting

This is an abstract botanical done in casein* tempera paint on heavy (400 lb.), cold press watercolor paper. I do the underlying sketch in pencil and finish the painting with a cold wax varnish, buffed to a leather-like finish. The image flows to the deckled edges of 22 x 30 inch paper. Unframed. I use the shapes and forms of the Southern California suburban landscape as vehicles for color play. *Casein tempera paint is derived from milk protein and can be brittle (thus the heavy, rigid watercolor paper) -- so the painting should not be bent, folded, or rolled. I suggest framing using float mounting technique under glass or acrylic.
