Kiriaka Mar is an emerging Sardinian painter, born in Lanusei (OG) in 1988 and working in Arzana (OG). She is a self-taught painter, identitarian and mixed media artist. Since she was a child she has been fascinated by art and colors. After the university break and thanks to the pandemic lock down, he had the opportunity to resume his passion and to experiment with various artistic ways until he found his personal interpretation of art. His painting is characterized by the use of conventional supports (canvas or cardboard) and recovery (Mdf, wood, chipboard), by the use of bright and primary colors and the mixture of materials such as cotton, glass, stucco. His works take inspiration from his personal social and historical background characterized by the matriarchy of rural Sardinia. And it is precisely the women that she depicts in the colorful Sardinian costumes and in the different daily poses. This subject was chosen because the painter wanted to place the condition of women and their rights at the center of the picture, which have been forgotten in many parts of the world and in many eras. The faces are deliberately made anonymous so that everyone can recognize each other, memories can emerge and the painter's message can arrive more effectively.
