MARIUSZ NAVRATIL - ARTIST STATEMENT I will forever be a student of the universe, pondering the depths of our existence, our connectedness, and ever-evolving ideas of time and space. My work allows me to express a very strong need to know, to try to understand and to create visual interpretations of the architecture of emotions, how specific moments of thought and feeling create a space and emanate sound, frequency, vibration "” and therefore meaning. I am inspired by science, an advanced notion of time, and concepts illustrated in quantum mechanics and string theory. I create intuitively, using ink and acrylic paint and find that my own emotions radiate from within and move me to put paint on canvas, to illustrate the vast tissue of my thoughts and explore the sounds and music that spill forth from them. I feel like I am a physician using an MRI to discover, dissect, and analyze the spaces emotions inhabit, and the many levels they exist on. This is why my work is meticulous, multi-layered, and intricate. The notion of a vibrating universe has deeply affected my curiosity and my approach to understanding reality. It triggers my imagination and allows me to immerse myself in a process of experiencing feelings and creating the images our thoughts and emotions emanate. My art is a journey into the thousands of micro and macro constantly changing formations of energy that we generate and are surrounded by, the energy we share and are connected by. The similarities between very big and very small scales of things and their dimensions help me to comprehend their coexistence and illustrate that harmony. I see how each scale's melody creates forms, shapes, and color. Nature inspires and induces me to go beyond our traditional, visible experiences, to illustrate what cannot be seen by the complacent eye. I am motivated to search for new ways of expressing our existence, concepts that are inherently within all of us, in our actions and our interactions. I would like viewers of my art to experience that as well, to empathize, and encourage them to go deeper and find profound explanations for the meaning of life.
