ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Large portrait of Soviet field surgeon after the Russian painter Oreshnkov. This is a painting about a surgeon's hands which are detailed as powerful instruments of the craft. His large white apron makes him look like a butcher but, of course, this is a wartime doctor.
