About The Artwork
During the pandemic the artist while quarantined was afforded the opportunity to live near a State Park. He started to hike or walk nearly everyday and rediscover nature. As a student he had made many landscapes from direct observation, but had not made landscapes for a while. Baldassano now observed and found a new appreciation for nature. "Dragon Rock" is a painting from memory and reconfigured in his studio of a large cliff painted with a graffiti image which was imbedded in his subconscious. He had also viewed the cliff from his kayak prior to the pandemic. This colorful, semi abstract painting is Baldassano's expression and interpretation of the images viewed.
