This is a larger scale painting of 1 metre x 1 metre here I am painting about migration and culture in this case I refer to the musical movement of drum and bass as one of many creative cultural movements that have come about partly from immigration this painting dances upon the fine line between abstraction and portraiture where you can visualise the main subject being a face however there is huge expression in the varying marks and layers of colour
and textured expressive brushwork. This piece is oil,on canvas mounted on wooden stretcher infrared the stretcher is high quality made from cedar wood
I am an English painter but I live in Cali Colombia a few years ago with my son Lucas, we are both painters and we love what we do. We believe in the life of the artist and also in our ancestors like, Van Gogh and Gauguin. We like to find the most expressive ways of painting and transmit this in the process. I hope you can enjoy my works and that you inspire your life more and more. I hope you can give your home your living space a bit of art in color and expression to enrich your daily life and escape from normal life. I am a painter who likes to capture the soul in faces and backgrounds of men and women who live in contemporary society. I like to paint about subjects like migration and escapism. I work a lot in painting with the process, experimenting with harmonies in colours, contrast, and I think that most of all I like to see the brushstrokes and what they express. Since I was a child I was always inspired by artists who can capture the essence of what it is to live today connecting with ancestry. What can a painting inspire us? The colors, the texture, the harmony, the message, the empathy, there are so many elements to consider in the process and transmit through the painting. Being an artist is freeing ourselves from expectation and transmitting our expression in the moment, letting the paint and colors flow to relate to the world and the people who can see the work.
