About The Artwork

This is the painting that started the Vibrant Forest Collection, the first in the series. It has been on loan at the 41st floor of the tallest building in the city of Jacksonville, Florida, USA. The painting is now available for acquisition, along with other remaining works in the collection. Vibrant Forest Collection: In this next generation series of ultra bright paintings sourced locally from subtropical Florida parks, inspiration is lifted from a luminescent palette that depicts forest paths that take a magical adventure through powerful tree canopies while whispering about the impact of digital technology and its preference to hyper-saturate nature, drawing reference from modern scenery and Virtual Reality. This collection of impressionist style oil paintings feature bold and true color with optical blending of foliage laden sandy paths illuminated by a rainbow of gestural strokes to capture the glow of the sun through leaves during the magical golden hour of the day. The scenes take place at multiple subtropical island parks located at the Eastern coast of Florida tucked between ever-expanding cities. A thick sense of atmosphere with impasto oil paint texture guides the viewer through inspired long walks in a forest were Plein air meets imagination in a vibrant nature paradise surrounded by daily life. Nostalgia for exploring our environment threads the series together while the allure of the wild is idealized in comparison to the reality of the invasive technology all around. *All works come signed, gallery stamped and with a certificate of authenticity directly from the artist's gallery. Wall ready, equipped for museum style hanging. Paintings are unframed, (frame to suit your decor or leave bare) edges are 1.5 in. gallery wrap painted black.

Celebrated for her style of bold impasto landscapes and occasional figurative works, Theresa’s artwork transfixes the viewer through a dynamic sense of color and atmosphere that explores what it means to connect to nature during our highly saturated digital age. Theresa Rykaczewski is an American painter and non-profit gallery director in Atlantic Beach, Florida at Word Revolt Art Gallery and Adjunct Faculty of Visual Art at Jacksonville University. Her latest series, “Vibrant Forest,” depicts various local and subtropical parks with inspiration drawn from virtual reality and Impressionism. The work seeks to find a balance between mixed desires for real utopian escapes in nature versus the digital preference for luminous hyper color. Previous series explore similar theoretical threads with the addition of figures and objects lost in nostalgia within the atmospheric marsh landscape, objects that are signifiers of history and changes in work and play over time. Theresa’s father, a botanical scientist, instilled her with a deep respect for nature, with a librarian mother from Cajun Louisiana who encouraged her to explore her French roots and follow the passion of Impressionist style painting, the landscape emerged as a formative influence for Theresa, who grew up St. Louis enjoying lush forest hiking trails with family and friends. Theresa Rykaczewski holds a BFA degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis with honors and a minor in art history as well as an MFA from Jacksonville University in painting, graduating as a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She has been painting and teaching art classes for the last ten years including community based and professional skills workshops, university and museum lectures.
