Eiderdown Hour Painting

This piece is a tryptic inspired by dusk, one of my favorite times of day when the sky colors constantly evolve, the strong outlines fade and a soft mystery prevails. I work with cold wax medium because of its unique properties that allow for the build up and digging into many layers of paint. I also love working abstractly with enough reference points to allow the viewer to enter the image and discover their own stories and associations within it. I hope Eiderdown Hour will evoke a feeling of calm. The three pieces should be hung to allow about 2"-3" of space between them. The paintings are wired, ready for hanging. The edges are painted to extend the central image. No framing is necessary.
