ABOUT THE ARTWORK
*OIL ON LINEN ON WOODEN STRETCHER* As with other images from this 'Enclosure' series, this painting was based on forest clearings. The idea was to move towards more specific subject-matter rather than expansive landscapes and also to create a sense of tension between realism and abstraction. Sites were chosen based on their proximity to prehistoric (possibly Iron Age) enclosures visible in the landscape.
