Jutta Anne Torres was born in West Germany in 1962 as an only child to a middle class family in the small town of Guetersloh. She displayed her artistic talents early in life and up-to-date her curriculum vitae literally spans the fifty plus years of her life. Early on, her liberal use of vibrant colours to make canvases "spring to life" immediately helped to differentiate her work from others. She continues to be quite prolific and has never dared to limit her choice of media to more traditional ones; like oils on canvas and using woods, cork, metals, leather and fabrics, aquarells or even photography. Jutta has forged meaningful alliances with other well-known artists like James DeLa Vega, who proudly displayed one of her wood series permanently in his East Village, NY gallery. She has also had one of her larger canvases displayed at the prestigious NYC law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, located at One Liberty Plaza New York, NY. Cleary Gottlieb is a major corporate global firm which owns and acquires important pieces of art. In addition, Jutta has a sizeable collection of major art works on permanent loan to Michael A. Soyars' Architect Studios located in Southampton, NY. Since 2012 one of her art pieces, End of Love Parade 2010, is also featured in the museums catalogue of the ‘Haus der Geschichte’ in Bonn, Germany. Jutta consistently looks for new ways to apply her unique artistic visions as evidenced by her expansion into the discipline of interior design and decorative and individual china pieces. She lives with her family in Germany and travels as often as possible to Manhattan, London and Belgrade, to interact within the art scene and receive new impressions. ‘I have amassed well over 100 pieces of art throughout my life time and continue to be productive with new concepts and pieces as well. The media for my art transcends the usual oil on canvas and forays into using large pieces of wooden blocks, oils on leather, Styrofoam, cork, cotton fabrics, seashells, and a whole host of other natural materials.’
