ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I took inspiration for the Entangled series from the complex root system of a Bohdi tree. Symbolically, I correlated the interconnectedness of the tree's roots with the interconnectedness of personal life experiences. I thought of the word "roots" as also referring to one's place of origin and how our "roots" can inform our individuality, while simultaneously restricting and grounding us. The work relies on contrast and layering to convey its ideas and aims to illicit introspection in the viewer about the "roots" that have made up their own life.
