ABOUT THE ARTWORK
From the time that the artist began studying art, he believed that in order for art to be meaningful, it should suggest meaning beyond the literal. This belief was further reinforced when he went to a contemporary Japanese calligraphy exhibition. While viewing the paintings, he could see stone, fire, and water. It didn't really matter that he couldn't read the signs and symbols as the energy and expressiveness of the characters had obviously challenged his imagination with success. This painting is a part of a series that is inspired by oriental calligraphy
